Went to Secret Recipe for lunch the other day… and tried their Laksa Sarawak. I seriously thought the waiter served me a wrong dish, but he confirmed it is Laksa Sarawak. It doesn’t look like Laksa Sarawak at all… or should I say don’t deserve to be served. Secret Recipe please do something about this or better still just take it out from your menu… its an insult!

Normally I will take a break for a few weeks from reading a novel after I am done with Grisham’s legal thrillers. But this time around, due to my disappointment with Theodore Boone, I started with another book, perhaps books. I just discovered a new author for legal thriller – Mark Gimenez – the next Grisham, that’s what they claimed. I’m gonna finish reading it by tonight, I am so addicted and it’s such a page turner! Hemm, I need a new shelves to store my new collection!

What do you do when you like somebody? As for me, I will keep it to myself. Being me, I am not the type who has the guts to express my feelings; hence you know why I am still single.

A Friend of mine falls in love with her ex-classmate, both of them are single and I would say would make a great couple.

Being a single guy myself, very secretive and never confess to anybody that I like them, I don’t think I am the right person to give advise on relationship. But, I’ve tried my best to help her by giving opinion on that guy’s point of view i.e. what I want a girl to do if she likes me?

I had never approach any girls that I am attracted too. In fact based on my experience, the relationship normally will work out if the other party approaches me and provided that I do like her.

So, as the ‘love guru’ to my friend, I told her to make a confession to him. There’re only two consequences – he likes you as well and a new chapter of love story will begin – or – he don’t have feelings for you hence both of you will remain as friends. I know it’s easy to say but the consequence of being rejected is so embarrassing. Anyway, you’ll never know unless you try or else you gonna keep wondering, admiring and dreaming the love life that could be yours.

How to start with the confession? I asked her to take him out on Sunday for breakfast before he left for London, just the two of them and just let the feelings out; but she missed the opportunity cause she’s just like me, don’t want to take the risk. Hence, now he’s back in London and she’s still in her own world admiring and dreaming about him.

Now, the only option is to send an email to him and express the feelings… if and only if she’s dare enough to do that. I just don’t want it to end up like ‘My Best Friend Weeding’… or perhaps just forget about him and go on with life being a single.

You know what’s best for yourself.

We had a Management meeting – seriously one of the worst meetings ever.

I plan to hire 2 clerks to help my payroll team. Since the number is increasing and some of the important roles gonna be passed to my payroll team, I’ve requested 2 clerks to help expedite our monthly processing. I don’t think with current manpower, with increasing number of timesheet to be processed in two or three days before pay day would be effective to us. If I opt to stay with the same number of manpower, this will increase the errors etc. For God sake I need to debate and at some point raised my voice to explain to them why I need more people. In the end, I can only take additional 1 clerk. Better than nothing.

I admit that I have no experience at all doing payroll. I took the responsibility not only due to I am power-craze but more on helping the group due to the old PIC for payroll left with short notice and somebody need to take that role. At that time, I told them I will assume the role while waiting for the new guy to come in, but it never happen. Its not that it’s a big deal for me, since it’s not me who’s doing the job, I just manage the team. But as the leader, they do from time to time asking for opinion, make reference to me etc. And what ever I know I’ll provide my feedback and for those question or issues that I need 2nd or 3rd opinion, I will normally refer to my friend (who has been in payroll for ages – you know who you are). Apart from that, I would normally call my colleague, attached with the other subsidiaries for her opinion etc. All this while, I thought its just a normal thing whenever I refer to her for an opinion etc about payroll or even HR matters, but it seems that this thing is being reported to the Management that I am incompetent. Well I didn’t know that by asking for an opinion or making a point of reference will make me an incompetent person. And the best part this was highlighted in the Management meeting. Does this have anything to do with the upcoming bonus? Hemmm, I’m prepared if they are not going to pay me any bonus. I’m just not in mood to argue about what I deserve, casue I think I should be thankful cause they still pay my monthly salary without fail even I am incompetent.

I wore Baju Melayu to work. Its not the fist time but its not the last time either, cause now every 2nd & 4th week of the month, we gonna be wearing Baju Melayu to work. Hemm at least now I can wear all sorts of colours that I have in my wardrobe matching with my songket.

Right after work on Friday, I joined my boss for a dinner at one of the famous Japanese Restaurant. I think the whole world knows that I don’t enjoy Japanese food – raw food, hence my boss ordered me cooked chicken with rice and Japanese chicken satay. Both of the dishes looks promising but still I cant take it… Will enjoy it if they serve it with sambal :-)

Went back to KCH. Tried the MH Mobile – paperless travel. It’s convenient and cool but I think MAS need to do another round of briefing to their own staffs as well as Immigration Department. At KLIA first check point, the security guard/ police happily taking my iPhone and scan the online boarding pass and allow me to go. Then since I was early, I went to the Golden Lounge for brunch. I show the same online boarding pass, and the MAS personnel ask for the ‘proper’ boarding pass. Then I told him I don’t have it and I’m using MH Mobile Boarding pass. Guess what? He printed me a boarding pass. Hemmm MAS intention is good to go paperless but if they don’t educate their people how are we going to save the trees.

It was raining in KCH during the 1^st day of CNY. As usual, I become the most unproductive person when I’m back in KCH – all I can do is eat and sleep :-) but I do enjoy watching movies at home with my siblings.

Went to Pasar Satok to buy Ikan Terubuk Masin for my friends. It has been a long time since my last trip there, normally my mum or my dad will buy it for me. There used to be only one or two stalls that sells this Sarawak famous fish (but its actually imported from Thailand, hemm that’s what I heard) but now I think there’re more than 10! The business must be very good.

My flight back to KUL was at 5.45pm. As expected, I encountered the same problem with my MH Mobile boarding pass. It took me nearly 15 minutes to get clearance from the Immigration. I’ve been questioned why I don’t have boarding pass – Thank God one of the officer knows about this new paperless thing – but the best part is non of them knows what to do with me – either to let me go just like that cause they can’t chop the words “KELUAR” (which means I’m going out from KCH) on the boarding pass like they normally do. MAS please do something about this.

Not really looking forward to come to work after short-break in KCH but I manage to convince myself by wearing new cloth that I bough in KCH and stuffed myself with my mum’s home-made Murtabak Daging for breakfast before driving to work. I still have plenty of the Murtabak in the freezer - I’m so grateful for having such a wonderful and talented mum.

I had to interview this beautiful girl for the position of receptionist at my office. She’s 18, just completed her SPM. The normal basic question that I will ask to all of the people that I interview would be – why did you apply for this job? – guess what she answered, “I don’t know”. The answer alone turn-me-off! But I still keep continue asking her questions while she’s playing with her long red coloured finger nails – What’s your plan for the future? Are you going to continue your studies? Or plan to concentrate on your modeling? – and again she come up with another stupid answer – “I don’t know, I think I want to study ‘stewardess’ ” – that make me not only turn-off but terus ‘mati pucuk’! She’s a total BIMBO! If you think I will hire you just because of your looks and your long legs, forget it. Yeah, it may be for the lower level position but I don’t expect our receptionist to be beautiful but dumb.

Yesterday

My boss declared the bonus, Company trip and Annual Dinner for this year. I’m happy but better keep it to myself for the time being until the cash is credited into my bank account.

Jogged at KLCC PArk after work with my colleagues. It was fun but tired. Manage to do only two rounds :-) Will definitely do it again, next week perhaps, actually I am preparing myself for next month Cyberjaya Marathon :-) Hehehehe

I left my office key at home this morning! I reached my office at 8.15am and I need to drive back home just to take the stupid key! Thank God its still CNY mood hence the traffic was smooth. I'm going back home now - Its Friday! Next week gonna be hectic week but Friday is a holiday.

I wonder how does my mum come out with ideas on what to cook on daily basis? I’ve been cooking for merely two weeks now and seem that I am running out of idea. I’ve cooked kari ikan, udang masak lemak, ikan tiga rasa, nasi goreng udang, tom yam, ayam masak pedas, not to mention the simple dish – ikan goreng, telur dadar etc. I still have some fish and chicken left in the new freezer and crabs :-) which I have no idea at all on how to cook it!

I am not in the mood to drive to JB this week even though it’s my turn this week. After the incident with my PMO there, I am a bit pissed off with her attitude – yeah she’s another GEN Y! My boss knows that I have problem with her, and I have make myself clear that we need a new leader to be placed in JB permanently since the PMO needs somebody to guide and make decision for whatever required there . I’ve told my boss as well that starting from 2010 I am no longer interested and I wanted to let go one of my portfolio i.e. Project Management and it was agreed by her so that I can concentrate with other areas. Hence I told her to hire a new Project Manager but it seems that I am still in charge on whatever new project coming in.

Another reason why am I not in JB (perhaps will only be there on this coming Thursday & Friday) is due to I need to clear the shit and rubbish left by one of our PM and the client is giving us till 22 Jan, failing which no payment will be made on job done after that. Crap! Actually, I am quite cool on this cause I like doing some dirty work and enjoy bitching about the previous PM :-) This will give me credit as well, if I manage to close the project successfully…hahahahaha.

It’s another long weekend. I am supposed to join the rest of my family in KCH for a New Year BBQ but I canceled my plan - don’t feel like flying. Spend the night with friends on New Year eve – the initial plan was to make an appearance at few clubs and get wasted but all of us ended up in front of the TV and laptop. It’s a good year to start 2010.

What’s my plan for 2010?

I think as a single chap at the age of 30s like me, people will continue asking when I am going to settle down. Hemmm, not 2010, I need to accumulate more money, wealth; and frankly speaking I can’t barely support myself with my current take home income and lifestyle – so don’t think it’s a good idea yet to settle down with somebody’s daughter, unless she comes with good package – perhaps the only daughter or to make it even great the only child of a multibillionaire, so I don’t have to think about my kids education fund, tuition fees and blab blab blab.

On my career, I would say in 2009 I’ve tried several times to switch job but maybe cause I am no longer marketable in the job market or I was too busy with projects and less time spending on the online job portal and job ads hence I didn’t have the chance to increase my income in 2009. For 2010, no plan yet to hunt for new opportunity, but we’ll see – it depends on the bonus the bosses promised for the Management team.

In 2009, I think I do less shopping for my personal things – No new shoes apart from for office wear, no new gadget apart form Shure earphone, but I spend lots on my studio, traveling, entertainment, and lots more on unnecessary things. So what I’m gonna do for 2010 is to reduce my spending – focus on my needs rather than on what I want. 2010 gonna be ‘Spend Less Year’. No more lavish gifts, no more business class, no more weekend party, no more new gadget and lots more that I need to sacrifice.

It has been a year since I discontinued my fitness club membership (which I barely use) and I am supposed to utilise the condo’s facilities, but after a year moving in, I never been to gym, less than 5 times swimming in the pool. So for 2010, for a start, I’ll make an effort to at least swim once a week and play squash once a month, let’s not talk about the gym first.

As for my eating habit, it has always been Coke when it comes to breakfast, chicken and two or three other dishes without vegetables for lunch and most of the time chicken rice or any other things to do with chicken for dinner, late dinner I would say. Hence, for 2010 let’s see if I can live without Coke (I’m having Coke while typing this entry, my last one perhaps), less main dishes for lunch and try to have early dinner; on the other notes, will reduce my nicotine intake, no plan yet to quit, its still a must after every meal and whenever there’s nature’s call, hence lets just try to reduce it for 2010.

I was at the Curve when my younger sister called – my uncle (my dad’s brother) passed away in the afternoon today. We used to live next to his house before we moved to our current house, and since then I was not that close to him.

When I was in primary school, he used to send me to school together with my sister and his youngest daughter with his Red Toyota Corolla Wagon. I will sit at the front passenger seat, cause I’m a boy and the girls seat at the back. During the journey, which took approximately 30 minutes, he will asked us questions – sort of pop quiz – most of the times its gonna be mathematics. He will always ask his daughter first. He will pressure my cousin to answer it while my sisters kept quite and normally when my cousin can’t answer the question, the question will goes to me. Any by the time he throw the same question to me, I will answer it immediately :-) Then, he will praise me and give me credits in front of my sister and cousin.

My secret was, immediately after the question was thrown for the first time to my cousin, I will be busy calculating with my fingers. I even have enough time to recalculate/ recheck my answer while he lectures his daughter. So by the time, the question goes to me – I’m proud to give my answer with confident :-)

This happened almost everyday and sometimes I will find the answer to his math question without doing any calculation – I just refer to the back cover of my exercise book – there’s multiplication table. But I am really scared to look for the answer cause the font was damn small and I don’t want to get caught.

After almost 3 months I’ve started my project in JB, last two week I went to SG for a short trip, and for the first time I drove my little Smart. I thought it’s only in Malaysia people will stare and smile looking at my Smart but in SG its even worst – they stop walking and even slow down their cars just to have a look at my Smart. Hemmm they never seen it before. Yeah can’t even see any other Smart on the road in SG. Perhaps my Smart was the talk of the town for that weekend.

Birthday this year was great, its nothing much apart from I’m older by another year. Had a great dinner with friends on my birthday, lunch with the bosses and colleagues on Sunday and a small celebration in the office on last Friday. For the first time ever, I’ve celebrated my birthday for three times.

The first birthday wish call I got was from my elder sister – she’s still awake awaiting for 12 midnight while putting her kids to sleep and the first SMS that I got was from my brother at 12 sharp :-)

But actually, for this year the first birthday wish that I got was from my mum and my dad on the 11^th with a question “Dah 31 nak, bila gik tek?” – You’re 31 this year, so any plan yet to get married?. Even though this is expected, and yet I don’t know how to respond, so I just laugh and try to change the topics. In fact almost all the birthday wishes that I received come with a prayer that I will meet my soul-mate.

Anyway, thanks to those who called and text me with lovely birthday wishes. And not to mention those who bought me nice birthday gifts - thank you so much.

People have been talking about me. It’s nothing new, in fact all this while people are talking about me but this time around its not only people in the company but our competitor started asking “who is me”. Hemmm this makes me wonder why would they interested to know who am I?

Some of my blog readers started complaining – lately all my entries are so dull and boring… its all about work. Yeah I do have to admit that, now I have no more personal life hence nothing to blog about life apart from work.

I am supposed to be in JB the whole week last week and this week hence I left my lovely little car there. I took a flight on last Friday after work to KL and planning to fly back to JB on Monday. However, plan is just a plan, due to some unscheduled things, due to how unorganised and how arrogant the bosses are, they instructed me to stay in KL up till Thursday. If and only if they had plan everything like I plan my rotation schedule for KL and JB, this thing won’t happen. Hence I have unsettled things in JB and to make it worst I don’t have my car since Monday. Now I am in JB just arrived few hours ago and will be driving back to KL tomorrow morning – just to take my car, cause the next two week I’ll be in KL.

My boss called me to discuss on 2009 performance bonus for the management. It seems that she is more concerned about me other than other managers – whether I am satisfied with the proposed bonus scheme. I wish I can tell her that you just decide how many months the company can afford to pay, cause to me nothing is good enough if its less than 8 months – casue that’s what my old company use to pay.

The management decided to pinch one of our competitor’s ‘superman’. And I never like the idea of bringing in another, casue I think we had enough and I don’t want the company to be like our competitors, casue we are supposed to be different. Even now most of our practices are almost the same if not totally the same with the competitor. I like new ideas, I like fresh ideas. For me there’s no point of setting up a business if we can’t differentiate our products unless we are the sole provider. Now it seems that I can no longer see the lights at the end of the tunnel. I’m afraid its actually the competitor’s tactics to allow their ‘superman’ to join us.

I really don’t know what our IT guy is doing. With my 9 years working experience, this is the first time I encounter – system developed without gathering user requirements and the user doesn’t have to meet the vendor. This system is supposed to be delivered early this year. The development started before I joined and since according to people including my boss, the IT guy is an expert in this system – he was involved in the same system development for our competitor before, but to my surprise he don’t even know how are things done at operational level and he can instruct the vendor to develop the system on his own without consulting the users? Hence, today I found out the system don’t even cater for the Must Have requirement, let be Nice to Have. Money invested, but my people still have to perform their task manually. I still don’t understand why we can’t buy the system off-shelf instead of building from scratch. Something’s fishy.

Yes, I am looking for other opportunity and I even consider joining back the old company. My twins will be in KL starting from tomorrow. Yes I need the morale support.

I am the type of person who likes challenges. And I do admit that I am greedy when it comes to work and responsibilities. It has been a year since I joined the Group now, and my roles in the Group has expended like no body business - heading the various departments, managing various projects at the same time and any other roles that I have voluntarily offered my service.

Come to think of it, I’m doing all this not just for the company but for my own personal development and experience – I like doing new things and I got bored easily with things after sometimes :-)

On top of my current functions and several projects that I am in-charge currently – we have another new projects here in southern, the ‘second southern project which worth millions’ awarded to us. We just started with the first southern project few weeks ago, and now another project is waiting! It’s a good fortune to the company.

Now I’m in the midst of setting up and ensure our southern branch is running and giving not only good, but great return to our investment. To ensure we meet the target for the current project is not something I would say easy, it require a lot of passion, good contact with southern people, and lots and lots of work to be done. I have been staying back late in my office since Monday to ensure all the target set, all the objectives are met. I hope my new team here in southern will be working hard together to ensure, I can close the project within 3 months.

About the ‘second southern project’, I am not sure whether I should lead the project looking at my current responsibilities. I don’t know how much more load I can take? Even now, I have started to be annoyed whenever my phone rings – it’s no longer or should I say never a personal call, it always be either from my staffs in HQ, or my colleague from KUL branch, or my boss, or our Finance, or my southern team or even from the client! I am tired now of my own doing. Am I reaching my limit? Or I am already overboard? Or it’s just the beginning of the new office set up since I have too many problems with our office suppliers here in southern.

I need a break or even worst I just feel like quitting! But I don’t want to be a quitter! This is a real challenge for me. I got to finish whatever that I have started. Too bad, southern is only at the beginning now, I should have not thought about the ‘end’, at least not now.

I took a Firefly flight from JB last night. It has been a long time since the last time I board a Fokker. Feels like I’m flying back in the old days. Its soo good to be back in KUL.

This morning I had a meting in Cyberjaya. It was raining in the morning, hence the traffic was very bad and I was late for 15 minutes for the meeting. Like usual, meeting with a government agencies – refreshment and lunch was provided. And the meeting which I think should take not more than 1 hour, took half day. It’s the norm for them, and being me I can’t wait to leave the meeting room and head to the office since I have lots of things to settle after being away from HQ for almost a week. But at the end I have to wait till lunch. Wonder how much they spend on the refreshment and lunch for that meeting – It’s tax payers money for God sake!

I reached office around 2pm. While driving I was engaged with our Senior Accounts to settle on our monthly closing – it’s already middle of the month and they have yet to close the account!

All of my team will not be following me to JB except for 2 person. Initially all agreed to be transferred to JB for 6 months, then 2 of them back-off due to personal reason. And at 530pm today, another 3 drop a bomb on me saying that they will not be joining as well. I don’t know what’s the reason. I have been fighting for their right with the Management and now they just left me without concrete reason. I am so affected by their decision since I have done a lot for them. I have a strong feeling they are joining one of our competitors. What goes around, comes around. I’ll hire new people for my JB operations.

My boss was also affected by my team decision and ask me to be strong. Hence we have decided to end their contract ASAP, casue there’s no point for keeping them since I’m done with my project in KUL. All this while, I have been too concern about my team, what are they going to do after the project ends – hence I proposed to the management for my team to follow me to JB. After much consideration and lots of argument with the management, I manage to convince to relocate my team to JB – just to make sure their contract will be renewed and to avoid them be in the statistic of unemployed graduates. But come to think of it, I am too concern and too nice to them. If only I’m not, I will not have any problem to delay my JB project implementation. Thank God I already have another local team in JB who’s already on the ground running the project.

One of the staffs approached me asking about his career path with the company. I told him for the next project he’ll be responsible for a new task on top of what he’s doing currently. Which I would say good for his self-development. To my surprise, considering he is only with me for a merely 5 months, he has the guts to ask me will he be promoted and will there be an increase in salary. Forget it!

I enjoy managing people. But what I hate is when I have to deal with a staff with personal problem and attitude. One of my staff (yes he’s the one who’s asking for a pay rise!) is having an affair with somebody else’s wife! I know she is in the process of getting a divorce from her husband but it’s not my concern. I don’t give a damn if they are in love and sleeping together – but when what they’re doing affecting their work, then it become my problem. I hate when one of them take an MC and another one on EL on the same day! Please be matured, you guys can do what ever you want, can even have babies if you think you need any as long as your work are done! Once you lost my trust, you’ll never get it back.

Raya this year was pretty normal like any other year. I got a new nice songket matching with my yellow Baju Melayu. My grandma was admitted to the hospital during Raya hence the whole family was panicking; and thank God, she’s okay now – recovering in KCH.

I’ve started my new Project since after Raya – hence I am required to travel a lot to southern. In fact now I’m blogging from JB. It’s quite tough to travel a lot and handling 4 different projects at the same time apart from other operational tasks that I am doing. But soon I will have more assistant to smoothen the extra task that I have to perform. I’ll be on and off in southern and KUL – It’s challenging.

The psycho resigned. She gives 2 months notice but we give her 2 weeks instead. So she has exactly 1 week to leave. Nope, she’s not going to handover to me. I have too many things on my plate.

For our southern branch, I have a secretary. I think I should have another secretary in HQ.

I am currently on the last batch/ phase of one of my project – can’t wait for the project to end. Started since March this year, I’m tired and bored already.

I have problem with my Streamyx connection back in KUL. I have called several times the customer service but the problem was not resolve. If only I have other alternative.

I’ve subscribed to MAXIS Broadband – mainly for traveling purposes. So far I am happy with the services/ coverage – I even can use it on the road. The only thing that I am not happy is the monthly charges - RM108.

I thought I’ll be crossing to Singapore more frequent after I started my new project, but till now I have yet to spend my Singapore dollar there. This is the fourth time I traveled to south.

In September the Company pay us advance salary for Raya and the balance was paid end of the month. I have budgeted some amount that I can spend for Raya and make sure I have enough cash for the car, condo, phone, electric etc. But to my surprise my pay is less this month due to tax, the Company underpaid my income tax since January this year due to the new IRB tax structure – hence I am on a very tight budget.

Due to my work load, I have to travel a lot and working till late night. Hence, I am compromising on my personal and social life.

I have been paying the maintenance fees for my condo, but I can’t even remember when was the last time I used all those facilities.

I am still thinking what car I should buy – either a sedan or a SUV or a 4x4. I’ve short-listed few brands and models but I am still undecided. I just want to make sure the chosen one will be practical and cater for my current and future needs. I don’t even have time to test drive yet.

I'm at Changi now waiting for my flight to KCH. I'll do whatever it takes to ensure I'm in KCH for Raya. The journey which is suppose to take 1hr45mins now become 6hr plus.

I notice that nowadays I seems to be unlucky when it comes to securing a flight on the last minute. It used to work fine with me before.

Thank God I manage to be on this flight back home.

I promised to send 50 candidates for an interview with one of our client tomorrow.

I've told my team last 2 weeks that I need at least 50 names for submission on Tuesday to client.

I've confirmed with my team that the interview with client gonna be on the 16th.

In the afternoon - I''ve submitted only 10 names to the client!

My team thought the interview gonna be from 16th to 18th.

The client is seriously unhappy with me.

I have to do my damage control - sorry, we're sorry, we appologise, will never happen again bla bla bla

I will submit atleast 50 new names on the 18th for interview after Raya holiday

The client agreed for a second round of interview on 28th

But the client is still not happy with my services :-(

After almost a month break, my team started their recruitment for our 3rd batch intake which gonna start on 29 September.

All of my team gonna follow me to JB upon completion of our 3rd batch intake. We will set up our 2nd branch in JB and I’m gonna manage our new project in JB. Nope Im not going to be based in JB, maybe on and off.

I’ve been attacked by German measles i.e. Rubella since last Thursday. No idea where I got it but I seriously feel miserable due to mild fever, flu and the worst thing is the itching the whole body.

Night flight to KCH was fully booked, hence most probably I’ll be flying back on Friday afternoon. I’ll utilize my open business class ticket that I’ve purchased in July.

We’ve just finished the 2^nd phase of our project. The 3^rd phase will start somewhere in August. So I’ve deployed my team for other projects. As expected, some of them are not happy, but I can’t make everybody happy.

I’ve decided not to renew one of my staff contract cause he’s been doing part-time job after working hours and its affecting his performance. Thank God, he’s okay when I told him about my decision, hence his last day will be this Friday. Yeah I do feel bad about it but I have to do what I have to do.

I’m going to start my audit in a day or two, and its gonna be Financial and Operational Audit :-) Something that I’ve been waiting for cause there’s a lot of things that I need to improve on the current practices. It’s difficult to change things when there’s a person who thinks she’s experienced enough on what she’s been doing and thought she knows everything. It’s pay back time! I love auditing hahahahaha.

The crazy woman in my office now become more aggressive. Initially, she confronted me. She likes me but I don’t like her. I don’t like woman with personality disorder and she’s ugly! Then, she’s been telling people that I scolded her because I’m jealous - one of our colleagues introduced her to a guy. For God sake, I’ve told her go and f**k :-) other guy, you’re far behind my type. Then, she blamed my girl friends for forcing her to wear maroon dress to a wedding reception (which I attended as well) cause she thought my friends wanted her to wear the same colour with me – the fact is that I’m wearing PURPLE shirt! For God sake, she’s so crazy – love is blind hahahahaha. This is our joke of the month!

This morning I joined my COO for a meeting with our Group Finance, on the way to our head office, my COO told me that the crazy woman told her that I’m actually playing my office politics, I just wanted to manipulate and influence my COO. This is too much – first she loves me, then when I rejected her, she’s been telling people that I’m jealous and now she’s accusing me of playing dirty tricks to win the COO. Why is she so desperate? This is what happen to a person who’s thirsty for power. She’s a real psycho.

My COO kept warning me not to leave just because of her. Just ignore her but the COO now asks me to seat next to her. Today is the first day I’m at my new place, and I think I can be crazy if I don’t move out soon. I don’t enjoy sitting next to my admirer, a person who has feelings for me, and now who’s trying to tarnish my reputation.

I called my ex-boss (Riyadh project) and shared my problem with him. He just laughed at me and told me ‘you better leave’ before things got complicated. He asked me to forward my resume to him so that he can help me to find other job. He feels bad cause he’s the one who brought me in the company, but I told him it was my decision to join onboard.

Hemm, so far no luck yet for an interview, should be soon :-)

I've been too much today - I've said something bad to a control freak/ dictator in my office cause I've been compromising for too long. But come to think bout it, its not that bad afterall "You know what, everybody hate's you. All of them don't like you". I feel good after that, and just in case if you wonder if she's the same person who's disturbing my team on Saturday night - yup that's her!

So what happend actually? She approached me this morning and presented to me her new org. chart which doesnt seems to be right cause most of my staffs now is in her list! So I told her I am against this thing cause it doesnt seems fair to me and to my team. I don't know whats wrong with her cause this is not the first time she's doing this to me - the first time was after the 1st phase of my project. But at that time I dont give a damn cause I just want to concentrate on my project so I said I'm fine with whatever her plan, just get me replacements. Too bad the replacements comes bit late after my 2nd phase started and the best part is I have to source & interview them on my own - which I didnt complain cause I like to be in charge on who should I hire.

My team has been complaining that she has been talking to them about being transfer to other project and she wont take 'no' for an answer cause its her decision. Hello!, who the hell do you think you are?! This morning she even arguing with me what's my team gonna do after this project. I think its too early to plan for that since I still have my 3rd phase and further more it is likely we're going to be awarded for the same project next year. And if we're not, I'm sure we still have lots of other projects which is currently under pursuit and some awaiting signing of the contract.

She cried after I told her straight to her face - "All of them don't like you". When I said that, I meant the entire company including her own team, hence a lot of resignation. And now she's out of staffs and wanted to pinch on my team.

My point of telling her that is for her to realise - sit back and think whats wrong? what makes people hate her? How could she manage people better? But instead, she throw the same thing to me - "Your staffs also don't like you!" That makes me laugh... and throw a question to her - tell me what is it that they dont satisfy with me, so that I can change myself and my management style? Instead of telling me, she just walk off from my room.

Then, I think about what had happened, why am I being so protective against my staffs, afterall I dont plan to stay here that long. But till the day I tender my resignation, I will do what ever I'm responsible for.

Few minutes ago (1230am!), my COO called me and talk about staffs planing and team dynamic - COO direction was clear, "I want you to maintain your team till next year. We'll assign them with other project if we didnt get renewal for next year". Hemmmm, now I wonder where did my COO find out about this issue. I bet she called the COO and try to sell her the idea on team restructuring. Too bad the COO is with me.

Now I'm thinking - is it wrong if people prefer my management style compared to her style? is it wrong if people like me more than her? is it wrong if my team perform well? Hemmm I dont have to burden with all this thing, afterall its just work, people are playing office politics to get what they want. Do I care? Well as long as I get my pay check at the end of every month, why should I bother. Life is more interesting that this.

Saturday, 27 June is one of the important dates for my project. All the preparation was done month earlier as per agreed methodology. Like last week, my team was busy at their respective venue to ensure that we meet our target, but as usual last week was another disappointment since we are short by few numbers, but we manage to top up within 5 working days and fulfill our client’s requirements. This week, at a different venue, it’s another disappointment – but this time around instead of shortage, we actually go beyond the target – the client and the partner was seriously not happy about it. I’m thinking how best to just simply meet the target on the dot. It’s difficult and it’s even harder when the target that you’re working on is human.

On Friday I stayed back up till 2am with a bunch of my staffs and today instead of relaxing at home and doing my laundry, I went to the office to settle few urgent things accompanied by my staffs. I’m the type who likes to give freedom to my staffs and encourage them to be creative, come out with ideas on how to do things instead of dictating on how they supposed to do it – and learn what’s working and what’s not. So far my style is working, and I’m pretty sure all of them are happy with me. I don’t care how they do it, as long as the jobs done and up to my standards and its ethical. But the problem is – I have a colleague who likes to dictate on how to do things. She called me around 10pm earlier to ask about something else, end up she finds out that I’m in the office. So she asks me, do I want her to come and help my team. I said NO. I’m fine and we’re about to leave the office. Then she said okay. Then, 5 minutes later, she called back and said that she need to come to the office cause she left something. She reached the office around 11pm. At that time I was busy in my room, and the next thing I know she was with my team changing my team’s initial plan – on how they should arrange the documents. Rearrange thousands and thousand of records at 11pm? HELLO! So I scolded her, but there’s nothing that I can do cause she had changed almost 50% and it’s too late to change it back. I know my team is tired, further more tomorrow morning they need to depart early to our next project venue. I don’t know what’s wrong with her – interfering with my project. Some people said she likes to be in-charge, some said she just want my attention cause she likes me a lot, some said she’s jealous cause my team is so motivated while her team is so demotivated and requesting to be transferred to my team. It’s difficult to deal with people who don’t know their boundary, and its even difficult to deal with human who doesn’t have a life.

I am in the process to hire additional staff to handle our growing payroll. My staff has been complaining about his workload. So thinking about immediate measure I have requested another staff to lend a hand while waiting for our new recruit. I would expect both of them to work together and settle the works, but to my surprise, he just split what ever work he has to the other guy and just leave that guy handle it alone. I’m fine with the splitting of works but I don’t expect the other guy to do his part alone cause he no nothing about that task. He should have check the other guy’s work cause it is his work initially and what I don’t mean help as handover. He should be responsible and ensure the work is done properly and correctly and not walk away once his part is done. I’m going to see him on Monday and tell him my disappointment. Dealing with staffs is challenging but managing a bunch of human from Y generation is much more complicated.

I hate morning flight but I don't have choice cause I need to be in KUL for a meeting at 10am. I'm sleepy and tired. Need to finish my slide later on in flight. I'm planing to leave the office early today. And I'm gonna sacrifice my weekend again. Can't wait for middle of July. I just want to get over done with this 2nd phase project, still have 3 weeks to go! Wonder why I didn't receive any invitation for job interview yet... I can't believe it, I'm taking AirAsia today! After 3 years going against the Best Low Fare airline, finally I have to put my ego aside and forget about what AirAsia has done to me - their bad services, unpunctual, last minute flight cancellation etc. I know that I'm required to be in KCH for a dinner and closing ceremony of our programme, but I'm trying my luck to push my boss to go instead. It's not that I don't want to but I have too many things to settle here and further more the rep from othe coy. - at least COO level.

Anyway since my plan to convince my boss to replace me is unsuccessful, so being me Ive decided to buy my ticket at the airport instead of doing my booking last nite. Further more I was in Genting last nite for another dinner and only manage to be home by 12am - and I was too tired since last Sunday.

I was so confidence that MAS will have available seat for me just like before be it Raya or just normal balik kampung holiday. This time around I was wrong! No Economy Class, not even Business Class! The only available flight is at 615pm! and I need to be in KCH by 730pm !

So from KLIA I rush to LCCT after I bought my 1st AirAsia ticket after 3 years at their KLIA counter. Now I'm waiting for flight AK5210 and laughing at my self while at the same time praying the flight will be on time cause I can't afford any delay.

We'll see if they changed after 3 years, if yes hemmm I'll fly to London, Melbourne and any other trip to KCH by AirAsia from now onwards with my fingers cross.

AirAsia please don't screw up, I'm giving you guys a second chance which I never did to any other shop, restaurant, company in my blacklist.

For the 2^nd quarter this year, we have been awarded with millions worth of contract and we’re currently pursuing more and more. I’ve got the approval to hire more people to execute those projects and my budget for facilities is also approved – I’M HAPPY

Our IT guy took ages to deliver the facilities that I requested – decent computers and notebooks for my staffs and a simple system which is available on-shelf but I don’t know why the Top Management prefers to build it from scratch. The initial target date for delivery of the system is in April, and now is already June, my team can’t work efficiently without the system. And I can’t monitor and do the checking manually – I’M ANGRY

A company from Sweden approached us with their new attitude ‘detection’ software. In order to persuade us, they asked some of us to take the ‘test’. The outcome for the three of us is quite alarming. My result was not a surprise to me at all, the Professor told me that – “you’re happy with what you’re doing for the Company but lots of thing is currently pending hence you can’t perform, what you’re doing now is just for the sake of doing it and you’re not giving your best, you need to do something about those pending issues”. And I told her, “I’ve communicate with the Management on the pending issues and the Management told me they’re doing something but till now I didn’t see any changes. So now, what I’m doing is just play along with them. I have my own limit, when I think its time to go, I’ll just leave.” And the Professor said “I give you 5 months”. – I’M SURPRISED

One of the projects that I’m handling now require me to travel on the road quite frequent. I have no problem with the traveling but I hate when I need to travel for 40 minutes to the clients place and end up nothing much to discuss, cause all the client wanted to tell us is that they need 2 copies of the documents – crap! I’M TIRED

I hate my job! It doesn’t take long before I finally admit that I hate my current job. Last year in October, I’ve submitted my resignation letter to my CFO, who’s by the way, is getting married soon - after less than a month officially divorced to his gorgeous wife - Opss, that’s totally a different chronicle. Now after more than 7 months with the new company, I think I’m ready for a new challenge - maybe I should call it new environment or perhaps better environment.

Initially, I’m attached to Middle East Project and supposedly am based there for six years, but after few months managing the Project then only I realised – this is not what I want. So I request for a transfer to a different subsidiary based in KUL. Without any problem, the Management approved my request, but I have to agree on lesser amount being credited into my account on monthly basis.

Being assigned to another subsidiary, as always, I love to prove that I’m the ‘Best’ and I like the idea that the Company needed me the most, I like being the most crucial person, the one that the Company depends on. Hence, I take charge of almost everything – no it’s not greedy, but I just like to be in control – no I’m not a control freak even though some people said so.

So, since then, I take charge of Finance, Admin, Payroll, Corporate Planning, Project Management, Quality Assurance and Corporate Services and some other ad hoc roles which sometimes I don’t realise that I actually overly burden with work. But I always make sure that I deliver and perform, hence compromising on my personal life.

And now, I’m tired and kinda bored with what I’m doing. What do I hate most is the Project Management part – dealing with clients, dealing with business partners – cause I’m the type who don’t enjoy being dictate and I don’t like to be pretentious especially in front of our client/ business partners. I’m a logical person and more on problem solver and looking forward. I hate dealing with clients/ business partner who enjoys finding who’s at fault instead of discussing how’s best to solve the issue and actions to mitigate the problem.

We’ll see, I’ll walk off when the time comes…

I’ve been too busy, lots of projects and new roles day by day - that’s what I want, that’s why I left my old Coy. – I wanted a more challenging work :-) Now I’m totally 100% if not more occupied day and night even on weekend.

There’s only one thing that I want now, I want a break! I want to go back to KCH and spend time with my parents and family… I miss my mum, I miss my dad and I miss all my family. But I can’t afford to take leave now… not until end of April.

I talk to my mum and dad almost everyday… sometimes through video call… I got to see both of them and they got to see me, but it’s different… the satisfaction, the feeling and the enjoyment seeing them in person especially at our home… I miss both my mum and my dad so much.

My leave had been approved… now let’s book a flight! I’m coming back!

I'm not trying to be racist here, but when 5 out of 5 projects was awarded to the same species... what else can I say? It was too obvious! Now the Management is trying to do something about it... do we still have a chance? Maybe its not ours in the first place... things happen for reason.

Hemm maybe I should be more postive, will work harder for our next proposal... the proposal that we've submitted maybe the best... but let's work on for excellent and the greatest!

It’s another long weekend… last weekend I spend three days relaxing and doing some shopping in KT… the weekend before I spend my entire weekend at the office up till late night… and today I’m enjoying my Sunday alone watching ‘Brothers & Sisters’ – new series addiction… accompanied by two regular pizzas and chicken wings… Hemm no wonder my friends said that I’m putting on weight… I am putting on weight – I just bought new pants and yeah now I’m wearing one size up ;-) How’s that?

It’s too many public holiday at the beginning of the year… I just can’t wait to go back to the office on Tuesday… am I crazy or what? There’s a time when I love my work so much… just bear with me.

Last Friday we had a meeting with the Management… updates on the Group’s plan for 2009, strategies, sales target and the most important thing is the announcement – I’m officially transferred to another subsidiary effective January 2009. So no more Middle East, no more ‘bodoh sombong Pak Arab’, no more annoying boss and no more Twin Towers!

My job scope at the new subsidiary is a bit different… I’ll be responsible for lots of things – from Finance to Admin, Corporate Planning to Quality Assurance and Project Management. Interesting and challenging as long as I don’t have a sales target :-)

But one thing for sure, I still work long hours… and with less pay cause I'm no longer handling international/ overseas project... no longer an expatriate but I can stay here in KUL :-)

Today I started parking inside the office building. Thank God :-) No more parking at the open space public parking.

One of my colleagues resigned and tomorrow is her last day. As usual, all her work was passed to me. It’s Déjà vu! Since my last 2 jobs, whenever people resigned, I’ll take over their function.

I’m still waiting for the response from the Management on my request for transfer. So for the time being I’m doing works for 2 companies. How’s that?

I’ve been thinking to change my mobile line from Celcom to Maxis but I’m too lazy to do it cause I need to change all the 5 numbers registered under my name.

I need a 2-door wardrobe with 3 tier hanging rod for my new place. I need a shoe cabinet that can fit at least 60 pair of shoes. Maybe I need a front-load washing machine. Maybe I don’t need a dryer. I don’t really need a tank water heater.

Do I need a new car? Do I seriously need a new car? I’m still happy with my Smart. She has been very good to me. I need to send her for yearly service anytime from now.

I’m not sure whether Felix and Fasha are happy with our new place, but I think they are.

I’m going to train people on something that I’m not an expert, something that I just learned 3 months ago. It’s cool huh.

I’ve yet to cancel my fitness centre membership. Will definitely do it by this week. As a substitute I’m going to start swimming and playing squash. Not sure yet whether I wanted to join my colleagues every afternoon/ morning to jog around the famous KL Park.

I need a new book while waiting for the latest Grisham. Do I have time to read? I’ll find the time! I’m not that busy as I always claimed.

I’ve been very busy with work? Hemm not really… I would say manageable for the time being, still pending on the exact date to fly. Frankly speaking, I’m still contemplating whether to go or stay here in KUL. Hence, there’s possibility for me to start scouting for NEW job soon. We’ll see.

What’s going on since my last update? There’s nothing much to share here… completed furnishing my new place… Oh by the way, my parents and my brother are in KUL with me now… and going back to KCH soon. They got nothing much to do while I’m working but I do enjoy my mum’s cooking for breakfast and dinner everyday back from work. It feels like I’m working in KCH even though in reality I never work in KCH, maybe one day I will.

What else? Hemm… Oh okay, forgot to mention about the recent Coy retreat. We went to Lumut for team building and annual dinner. It was great and I enjoyed it, even though initially I was bit reluctant to go. Hemm during the annual dinner, for the first time ever in my life I sang live on stage! It was a great experience even though my hands were shaking like crazy, but I manage to control my voice…but we didn’t won cause the judge thought I was miming :-) It’s a compliment to me hehehe… we got the first runner up.

You know what I miss the most about my old office apart from my colleagues? It’s the ergonomic chair! They have the best office chair… How I wish I can bring it here to my new office… Maybe I can buy one, but it will create unnecessary conflict… “Our chairs are not good enough?!” Hemmm I better not!

I’ve been very busy after my long Raya holiday. Changing job, moving to my new Condo… too many new things to adapt to my life. Nothing much to talk about the new job… now still waiting for the clearance, VISA, accommodation arrangement etc. Frankly speaking, I’m not really looking forward for the deployment to the Country where I’m gonna spend my life for the next 5 or 6 years. No it’s not about the job… come on, I prefer to be here in KUL… 1hr 40 minutes from KCH. There’s no place like home!

The new Condo is fantastic! Facilities, shops, food stalls and even shopping complex are just a lift away! Hemm I can even send my laundry buy groceries, go for nasi lemak in my boxer and t-shirt. I love my new place!

Initially, I have no plan to move in to the new Condo this soon since I wanted to do some minor renovation on the interior design – like installing new kitchen cabinet, changing the toilet tiles, installing wardrobe etc. but since I’m leaving for overseas soon and further more, all the existing fittings are quite good… so I decided to just move in first. So, all my requirements for the new place I have to forego… no side-by-side fridge, I’ve settled with small fridge which can fit under my kitchen cabinet but its bigger than mini bar :-) but I managed to grab king size bed :-)

The last 3 weeks I’ve been spending like millionaires – yeah what do you expect, it’s a new place… and I start from ‘ZERO’. I need a decent and comfortable place to rest after long hours in the office…

My 4 year old nephew.

He has been asking his mum when he can eat after one day ‘puasa’. My sister told him that my mum (nenek) gonna break-fast at their house. So his mum told him, wait till nenek come, then they can break-fast.

So when my mum arrived at their house, which is one hour before azan Marghrib, my nephew happily shout – “Ha, nenek dah datang, dah boleh makan!” (Grandma is here, so we can eat!”).

Duirng breaking fast, after the azan Marghrib, he ate one whole apple… yup just that.

I gave him ‘duit raya’ in a packet. Then while having ‘rendang daging’ and ‘ketupat’ he open up the packet and take out the ‘duit raya’, then he said – “Ha, kamek nak beli daging ngan udang pakei duit tok” (I want to buy meat and prawns with this money”).

I purposely booked my flight KUL – KCH at night so that I have ample time to pack and rest. Normally, when I’m going for a holiday or going back to KCH, I will parked my car at the office secured parking… but my trip this time around, I’m no longer enjoying the parking privilege cause I’ve surrender my parking card and I’m no longer an employee!

Finished packing at 5.00pm. Had my shower. Check all the lights, doors, locks, plugs and points, goodbye to Felix and Fasha… and finally I’m ready to leave around 5.30pm. Drive straight to KL Sentral with all my luggage.

After checked-in, (almost 6.30pm) I drive back home to park my car… I have exactly 2 hours before my flight! How do I get to KLIA? Hemmm… I can’t even remember when was the last time I took a cab to KLIA… and I know for sure it is VERY difficult to get a cab at my area especially during festive season and to make it worst it’s almost 7.00pm… most cab will be off during this hours for breaking fast.

So I drive around looking for a cab… the first cab I stopped – no he can’t send me, cause he’s going back home for breaking fast. Few minutes later I stopped another cab and he agreed to send me to KL Sentral.

Parked my car and grabbed my hand luggage and jump straight into the cab... as soon as I closed the door, it’s time for breaking fast… I had nothing to eat! Not even a sweet or drink.

I’m not sure whether I can make it on time to KLIA… the cab will drop me at KL Sentral, and from there I will take the ERL straight to KLIA. Since I’m not sure, on the highway, I changed my mind… “Can you send me straight to KLIA?”…I won’t take no for an answer… and I’m willing to pay anything at that time :-) Thank God the driver says “Ok”. Fuhhhh…

I reached KLIA 10 minutes before the departure gate close. I paid the taxi driver and give him some ‘duit raya’.

Thank God I was on Business Class – MAS served me Bukhari Rice with Chicken Kurma… that’s what I had for berbuka on my last day fasting in KUL this year.

But come to think of this incident, it's actually nothing new... I'm always in a hurry to KLIA...

Farewell

My last day at the office was smooth… farewell and goodbye to everybody… some was surprise (yup even I’ve submitted my resignation a month ago)… nothing much to pack at my small cubicle since I was there for merely a year :-)

Unlike at the previous office, this time around I can’t say ‘No’ to farewell – cause they organised one small event for me at one of my favourite restaurant – Tupai Tupai.

And this time around I got the best farewell gift – Daging Salai Masak Lemak Cili Padi from one of the DGM :-)

I have another 3 days before my flight back to KCH. I have another 3 days to serve before I say farewell to the current employee – by right and if I’m smart enough and not easily have sympathy towards other people who’s actually using me for their personal interest, I would have be in KCH now.

But then again, everything happens for reason. Last month when I submitted my resignation, everybody question me – why? I have my own reason. I’ve explain most of the reasons to the HR and to my boss, the CFO.

With the annual leave balance that I have, I could have easily submit one week notice, but, there’s always but, the CFO managed to convinced me to serve the 1 month notice and the good thing is – they gonna cash my leave balance! Hemmm there’s always money involved… but apart from that, I think it’s my responsibility to help them in delivering the project (even though the project is not in my portfolio initially)… so I’ve come to a consensus with the CFO on what should I deliver before I left… which I did – I’ve completed the task last week!

And since this week is my last week working here, I’ve highlighted to the CFO that I need to do a formal handover of my works because my last day will be this Friday.

Guess what the CFO has to say? “Take back your letter and change the date, I want you to stay for another month, so minus your leave at least you can stay for another 15 days”

Put yourself in my shoes (oh by the way I’m wearing size 9 shoes)… how would you feel? I feel cheated! What happen to the initial agreement? What happen to the cash leave? Like one of the DGM like to say – “This is the thing you see, this is the thing!” I’ve lost trust towards not only the CFO but the Management! Hemm actually I’ve lost trust towards them long ago, hence the decision to quit. Its not that I gave up like one of them… hemm that’s another episode of my one year service with the employer, hope to blog about it on 27 September.

So what’s my plan now? I’m leaving on 26 regardless of anything, I’ll continue to handover my works… I’ll demand for my cash leave or else I’m gonna report to the Board… or perhaps see you at the labor court!

I just wanna leave in good terms… I’ve highlighted all my dissatisfaction, rooms for improvement etc.

Too bad, it’s not the place I want to be…

I’m fine with them submitting my resume and recommend me to the people they know…
Let the people decide whether I’m fit for the post or otherwise…
And let they decide whether they want to call me for an interview or KIV…

I’ll sell myself when it’s appropriate…
And I’ll show off my talent when I think it’s necessary…

While browsing through apple.com, I notice there’s new software update for iPhone 3G. I was contemplated to update but I’m afraid something will happen to my iPhone. Back in Hong Kong, where I bought my iPhone 3G I was assured by the shop that I can update the iPhone even back in KUL, cause it’s not like the first generation of iPhone. Apple no longer locks the iPhone, but they make it seriously difficult to buy the gadget without signing a contract with their preferred service provider… Don’t ask me how I get mine :-)

So, with my fingers-crossed, I download the 2.1 software version and install it to my iPhone 3G. While installing the latest version… I still have unsure feelings – ‘am I doing the right thing?’… ‘what if after the software upgrading, I can no longer use my iPhone?’… ‘how do I restore back to original software, if the new software doesn’t work?’… so on and so on.

It took me almost 15 minutes to download and install the software… and finally ‘You have successfully updated your iPhone3G software 2.1’. It was the longest 15 minutes in my life :-)

I was alone at the store this afternoon browsing through kid’s apparels.

Sales girl – Can I help you? How old is your son?
Me – (Holding 12 months baby boy‘s wear) Oh… not even a year yet.
Sales girl – We have other design as well.
Me – I want the Sesame Streets.
Sales girl – Your son likes Sesame Street?
Me – (Smile).

Fuhhh… people always mistaken me buying kid’s apparels for my own kids. Do I look like a dad??

Then, I continue searching for clothes for my other nieces and nephews… and bump again with the same sales girl.

Sales girl – How old is your daughter?
Me – (Holding 24 months baby girl’s gown) She’s one plus.
Sales girl – I think that one is quite big, why don’t you take 18months old.
Me – (Smile).

Hemm… I still have few cloths to buy. I don’t expect the sales girl to follow me around the store and ask me ‘How old is your son/ daughter?” again and again :-)

So I try to avoid her… kind off hiding from her :-)

Then, after I’ve completed choosing and selecting clothes for all my nephews and nieces, on the way to the cashier counter, I bump again with the same sales girl...

Sales girl – (Smile).
Me – (Hands full with clothes... then suddenly I said) I have 4 sons and 2 daughters.

Hemm… the words pop out form my mouth automatically… Hahahahahaha!

How Full is Your Bucket?

When was the last time somebody said something good to you – which make you feel more positive? I still remember an email forwarded by a friend about ‘Choices in Life’ – we actually have two options in everything, it starts from the minute we wakeup in the morning, up till before we say goodnight and call it a day. The two choices are actually – positive and negative. It’s our choice whether we want to be happy or depress.

Im currently reading a book to motivate myself, to increase self-esteem and to boost self-confidence… and be a positive person :-) Thanks to LJ for filing up my bucket...

A simple ‘Thank you’ can make a big different in somebody’s life… don’t wait till it’s too late.

story of Asam Pedas

I was craving for ASAM PEDAS since the second day of puasa. On Tuesday, due to heavy rain and bad traffic after work, I end up berbuka at Tom Yam stall. The next day, I visited (for the first time this year) bazaar Ramadan near the neighborhood and managed to buy the last piece of ‘Ikan Pari Asam Pedas’… but to my disappointment, it does not even taste like asam pedas at all :-(

So today, went to Mum’s Place and had their famous asam pedas… the third best asam pedas in the world :-) Who's the first? My mum's of course :-) I'll tell you the runner up some other time.

PUTRAJAYA: From today, mobile phone users can enjoy the freedom of switching network service providers without having to forgo their original phone number, including the prefix number.

Effective today, the service will be extended to users with prepaid mobile phone numbers in the Klang Valley and post-paid users can start enjoying the benefit in two weeks’ time.

In a statement, Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said the service, known as Mobile Number Portability (MNP), would take away the inconvenience associated with switching service providers and consumers’ concern over losing their contacts when doing so.

“Service providers are allowed to charge up to RM25 each time subscribers change their mobile phone service provider. This will give the users choice and freedom to choose their service providers without the inconvenience of having to change their numbers,” Shaziman said.

“The nationwide launch for the MNP will be done in October.”

Shaziman said MNP was about improved service quality, better packages, better customer service and giving consumers choice, adding that initially only individual account holders would be able to use the service while business accounts could do so after the nationwide launch.

He said that until the nationwide launch each service provider would only be able to accept 100 requests a day, adding that prepaid users’ balance credit would not be refunded.

I’ve been summoned to the CFO’s office again today. But, this time around, for a different agenda. He wants to check my stress level! Hemmm I didn’t know that he is a doctor trapped in accountant’s body.

The result was quite bad (according to the ‘doctor’) and he advised me to practice stress-management breathing technique… and improve on my work life, as well as my personal life. I think my personal life is manageable at this point, but I’m quite overloaded with works currently.

Looking at the result and as explained by the ‘doctor’, I’m actually quite worried because stress can lead to other more serious problems. And few minutes ago, I checked my blood pressure, as expected the reading is quite high :-( Need to manage my stress.

Here are some ways you can help yourself to deal better with stress:

take regular exercise - even if you are not sporty, brisk walking for 30 minutes every day can be a very effective stress buster
delegate or share your responsibilities at work - making yourself indispensable can be a major source of problems
learn to be more assertive - for example, not agreeing to things you know you can't do well or know shouldn't be your responsibility
don't drink too much alcohol or take drugs - these will not help you to cope better and may make you ill

Discovered this book while I was browsing through at the Borders. The title - ‘Silent Cries’ – catches my attention. As the ‘parents’ of Felix and Fasha, I need to have this book, to understand both of them better and to be a better guardian for both of them.

I like the author’s writing style – writing in the perspective of the animals. I do sometimes make mistake to both of them, I do sometimes scold them, I do sometimes ignore them... :-(

The first one was regarding the disbursement of the funds – the Management wants it to be done via cheque, which I didn’t agree as well but after countless attempts to convinced my boss – that it’s not practical to disburse the fund via cheque, I finally rest my case and follow what ever his direction. Then the process owner making noise (not to my boss, but to me) my boss is their boss as well... and in the end my boss agreed to change the policy – so now there’s no specific clause in the policy on disbursement methods i.e. its up to the process owner – either via cheque or transfer to their personal account or which ever way practical to them. I have no issues on that.

So, to ensure all other clause in the policy comply with the process owner requirements (even I’ve written the policy based on their current practices) but some of the clauses had been changed by my boss to enhance the internal control, I took my own initiatives to forward the final draft of the policy to the process owners for them to review, comments, provide feedback, criticize or whatever you want to call it, before I submit it for approval (since it has been long overdue). Feedback form the process owner – NONE. So it’s good to go and I even mention to them I’m going to finalise the policy. They give a green light to me. So, there you go, the policy was finalised and enforced and implemented.

Few weeks after the approval i.e. which is today, while I’m busy with my new responsibility (my additional job scope, which I didn’t complain), while I’m busy compiling all the information and discussion points from yesterday’s session – the process owner making noise for the second time. And to make it worst, the clause that they questioned, I’ve argued it with my boss as well as with the DGM! But both of them didn’t buy my argument. So that’s why the clause is still there in the policy – the fund shall not be used to disburse payment for claims related to employee benefits. In other words, regardless of the amount of claims, it shall be paid via cheque. Yes, I agree it’s not practical but that’s what the Management wants!

This thing can be settled if the process owner read and highlight the first issue together with the second issue. This is what happened when your boss likes to show that he is in power, when your boss don't have his own stand, when your boss is too extreme on principle based, when your boss have no balls. Whatever he says is Correct! Correct! Correct! and you’re always wrong and invalid. Forget it! I rest my case! Let’s activate exit plan.

I’ve been worried about the SP session since the last 2 weeks, since my colleague tender her resignation, since I know that my boss likes to chicken out, since I know there’s a lot of things to be done. Finally, today we’ve completed the session and I know a lot more to come after this – compilation of the outcome from today’s discussion, session with the Management, session with the Board, divisional session and so on and so on.

I’ve been instructed by my boss – the CFO, to attend an event organized by Perdana Leadership Foundation… initially I was reluctant to go because on the same night there’s another big event – Olympic Opening Ceremony!

Since everything had been arranged, seat had been booked and paid – so I have to forgo the Olympic… so straight after work, I headed to the Sime Darby Convention Centre. No regrets...

Dear Yuppies78,

Unfortunately, the Smart forTwo car cannot support any of our products. During testing it was noted that any weight of 45lbs or more on the back of the car caused the front end to lift up. For this reason, none of out rear mount systems will work and a hitch cannot be recommended either because the combined weight of the hitch, rack and bike would surpass 45lbs.
Also, we do not ahve any roof options for this car.
